Indications
OC.
Dosage
1 tab daily from 1st day of menses for 22 days, followed by 6 tab-free days.
Contraindications
Thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, CV diseases or history of these conditions; severe hypertension; liver disease or history of cholestatic jaundice, prupitus of pregnancy or herpes gestationis; known or suspected estrogen=dependent tumours; endometrial hyperplasia; undiagnoesd vag bleeding; porphyria; hyperlipoproteinemia; pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, cholestatic jaundice; thrombosis, BP rise; chloasma, erythema nodosum, rash; headache, migraine, mood change; breast tenderness, pain, enlargement, secretion; fluid retention, reduced glucose tolerance, body wt changes; intermenstrual bleeding, post-medication amenorrhea, changes in cervical secretion, increase in size of uterine fibromyomata, aggravation of endometriosis, vag infection.
Interactions
Irregular bleeding & reduced efficacy w/ anticonvulsants, barbiturates, tetracyclines, rifampicin, activated charcoal & laxatives. Antidiabetics. |
